Plains

At Humphries Weaving we custom weave to order a huge variety of plain fabrics, in whatever colour the project requires.

Contemporary designers use these types of plain fabric to create textural surfaces in subtle shades, to work within larger decorative schemes.

For Historic Restorations we frequently see the use of plain lustring to compliment a large figured damask that is the main focus for the room. These can be seen in many of the nations most iconic buildings, ranging from National Trust properties to Royal Palaces.

These plain fabrics encompass block colour effects and all over  surfaces that offer customers a go too plain for their unique interior.  The historically accurate plain fabrics we create include Moire, Bombazine, Poplin, Lute, Tammy, Banner Cloth, Lustring, Satins and Sarsnet. These are used as both linings and feature cloths.

We manufacture various proportions of ribs and repps and are one of the few companies in Britain that can offer glazing and moiré finishing techniques.
