Ven House

Ven House, Dorset.

A Grade I Listed country house completed in c.1730 by Richard Grange for its owner James Medlycott. It was later altered and extended by Cubitt and Decimus Burton in 1836. The house passed through the Medlycot family through the 18th and 19th centuries until much of the estate was sold in the early 20th century.  Its present owner is the acclaimed British designer Jasper Conran.

Jasper Conran now holds the village fete and often opens up the grounds for public garden parties.

Bedroom Restoration

Walling.

Humphries Weaving were commissioned to supply silk and wool narrow woven damask in ‘pea green’ used for walling. The design can also be seen at Osterly Park House (National Trust) on furniture attributed to Linnell, in the same colour-way researched by Tom Helme in 1996.

Window Drapes.

A silk and linen crimson damask in a deliberately distressed 18th Century design, the technique and construction were developed to imitate and match a set of 19th Century window drapes. Also woven was a silk lustring in crimson for the window drape linings.
