Jenny Dyer BA (Hons)

Business Manager

Jenny Dyer studied textile design at Heriot-Watt University, Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, an institution renowned for its links to the fashion and textile industry. Her chosen specialism in woven textiles gave her a strong understanding of design and the technical aspects of creating a woven structure. She learned her craft through hand loom weaving as well as CAD driven Jacquard technology.

Jenny’s role at Humphries Weaving has evolved over the years culminating in her position as the Business Manager today. Customers, as they always have, remain at the heart of all that she does ensuring each project is given a dedicated point of contact from the outset to satisfy even the most complex of briefs.

“No two days are the same at Humphries Weaving and I am proud to have been involved in a diverse range of projects here in the UK and overseas; from private homes and chapels to the palatial interiors of Chatsworth House and Frederiksborg Castle, Denmark.”

Jenny works collaboratively with her clients to make their unique fabric vision a reality and personally oversees the fabric development, sampling and implementation of final production.

“We could be working with a client for a number of years on a single fabric so seeing a room come to life and knowing you have been part of that journey brings great satisfaction.”

Hand drawing designs is one of the most rewarding aspects of Jenny’s job, a skill that comes into its own during a historical restoration scheme. One of the most memorable drawing projects Jenny has had to date was for a private house in Dorset, which saw the longest design repeat of any historic damask woven at Humphries Weaving. At over three and a half metres this design required her to meticulously redraw from the original texture, accurately replicating every curve and organic form within the design.  Jenny employs the same practice in contemporary developments, where the precision of design and construction is equally as important.

Please note that Jenny is currently on maternity leave.
