Alnwick Castle

Alnwick Castle, Northumberland.

A grand Medieval Castle and home of the Percy Family, the Earls and Dukes of Northumberland, for over 700 years. The castle has an exciting history and has more recently become known to millions as ‘Hogwarts’ in the Harry Potter films and later as ‘Brancaster Castle’ in the 2014 Downton Abbey Christmas special.

The property underwent significant redecorated in the mid 19th Century under the guardianship of the 4th Duke. Further restoration treatment was carried out under the instruction of the current Duchess of Northumberland in the early part of the 21st Century. This restored many of the state rooms back to their impressive former glory.

The state rooms are grand and imposing, rich with sumptuous fabrics, fine art and furniture but also contain personal artifacts of the 12th Duke and Duchess of Northumberland and their family. Some of these state rooms are open for the public to enjoy.
