NMiTE; New Model in Technology & Engineering
NMiTE – New Model in Technology and Engineering – is an initiative backed by government, educators (including the University of Warwick) and industry, to transform engineering education in Britain. Located in Hereford, NMiTE will ultimately become the first new UK university in 40 years.
The NMiTE project is crucial to Britain’s competitive future. Engineers are key to mastering major world challenges – from sustainable food production to cybersecurity to Artificial Intelligence and more – but the UK is critically short of them.
Academic Robes
Cotton & silk Jacquard design for academic robes
Hereford College of Arts commissioned artwork from a student to be produced as a bespoke woven fabric to create unique academic robes.
The polygon design was produced in three colours; Bronze, Silver and Gold and made into robes for the Senior Leadership team, CEO and Chairman. The images supplied are from the inauguration ceremony which took place in October 2018.
“We approached Humphries with a real challenge – help us weave the pattern for academic robes for the UK’s first new university in 40 years – and they had to be different. Working closely with our maker and the young art college student who designed the pattern, Humphries was peerless in helping to deliver the new, modern distinctive look that we were seeking. The experience couldn’t have been better!” Karen Usher DL – Trustee and Founding Director, NMiTE.
