Dennis Loline 3 Vintage Bus Restoration
Humphries Weaving are frequently commissioned to undertake the weaving of upholstery fabric for buses. For this restoration we worked with bus owner Dave Preston on the Dennis Loline 3. The bus has a 71 seat Alexander body, new to North Western Road Car Co. of Stockport in 1961.
Dennis Loline 3 Vintage Bus Restoration
Restoration of the interior seat & bench panels.
The Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester, provided an interior photo of the bus taken by the operator when it was new. This confirmed what the origional seats looked like and that started the project rolling.
We redrew the design from faded fragments of cloth from the origional seats and applied a “mock moquette” weave construction. This uses chenille to imitate a cut pile. The fabric helped return the bus to its former glory and the charming retro design has been added to the Humphries Archive.
