At Humphries Weaving, every project begins with a conversation. Whether you’re a designer, curator, architect or private client, we’re here to help translate your ideas into woven fabric for your interior scheme. From bespoke historic recreations to contemporary commissions, our approach combines creativity, technical skill, and a deep respect for textile heritage.

We offer flexible consultation options, whether that’s welcoming you to our Suffolk showroom over a private lunch, visiting you on site, or meeting virtually. What matters most is understanding your vision. All our fabric is woven to order to your exact requirements. Some clients come to us with antique textile fragments, mood boards or just an idea. We respond with thoughtful, tailored solutions, adjusting scale, weight, colour and fibre content to suit the space and purpose. With an extensive archive and in-house expertise, we can build something new or reimagine something old, down to the finest detail.

When it comes to historic recreation, we can draw on decades of expert research, from our reports and analysis through to our fabric and colour archive. This all helps to inform our decision-making process on how we reinterpret a new recreation using our modern state-of-the-art power looms to recreate textiles from hand-drawn looms of the past.

We are a fully vertical Oeko-Tex-accredited mill; therefore, we have control over every aspect of the development and production process. Our team of experts performs scientific colour analysis, in-house dyeing, warp winding, strike-offs and full-width sampling; every stage is managed in-house by our dedicated team.

Our on-site dye lab allows us to reproduce complex historic shades or develop new ones from a customer reference. We also hold a large stock of standard colours, ideal when time and budget are priorities.

Sampling is a vital part of the journey. Before production, we provide woven trials to ensure the fabric meets the customers’ requirements as intended, for artwork, weave construction, and handle/feel. This careful prototyping guarantees confidence before committing to full manufacture. This could also include Bobbin trials, where the custom-dyed colours are also trialled for approval.

Once approved, your fabric is produced using specialist power looms and skilled craftspeople. Lead times can vary depending on a few factors, including whether the yarn is from our stock range or custom-dyed yarn development, but our commitment to quality remains the same. Every piece is inspected, finished, and despatched with precision, whether it’s destined for a royal palace, museum, or private residence.

At Humphries Weaving, we don’t just make fabric; we craft bespoke historic and contemporary fabrics that shape interiors with meaning, history, and integrity.
