Richard Humphries talk at the V&A Museum will take place on the 29th June as part of the acedemic course ‘Textiles: Ancient to Modern’. The weekly course held at the V&A explores the relationship between textiles and our personal vales. Although we now live in a throw away world full of fast fashion and interiors, historically textiles has been the most obvious expression of our personal values. The course walks through the history of textiles from before the 16th century right up until modern day. Exploring the development, techniques and history behind cloth.

The Summer Term will be looking at ‘The Age of Mastery: 1750-to the present’, this will include the industrial revolution and the birth of mass produced textiles. Richard Humphries has been invited to give a talk on silk weaving and the history of Humphries Weaving Company.
