Our showroom redecoration journey:
A transformation tale about our new appointment space, from painting to designing bespoke upholstery fabric.
For the past 6 months, the Humphries Team have transitioned into interior designers. Alex, Charlotte & Sarah have been busy redecorating the showroom client space to incorporate bespoke upholstery fabric, make it a more inspirational space and make it more comfortable for guests. The transformation reflects our commitment to creating an environment that not only showcases our products but also tells our brand’s story in an engaging and inspiring way.
Defining the Vision
Redecorating our showroom was a thrilling journey that has breathed new life into the space. The first step was to translate the team’s vision into a colour scheme and textile palette. The team wanted to create a space that conveyed modern elegance with a touch of warmth, making it homely and sophisticated. The look was to be similar to the schemes developed in collaboration with the world’s leading interior designers, and the team also referenced design magazines and industry trends. A focus was historic designs with a contemporary twist, and the colour palette was created featuring shades of blue, green, burnt orange, sage and burgundy. These provided the basis for the bespoke upholstery fabric that was designed specifically for the space.
Redecorating
While developing the bespoke fabric in our working studio, we hired local painters and decorators to restore the space. Fresh paint & a new carpet were installed, in soft neutral tones. Lighting was also a crucial element in our redecoration. We introduced a mix of ambient, brass lights to highlight our fabric and create a dynamic atmosphere. This will be especially useful in the darker winter months, while during the summer the natural light streams in through the bay windows.
Bespoke Upholstery Fabric & Furniture Upholstery
After developing a range of bespoke upholstery fabric from the Humphries Weaving decorator fabrics collection, we wove bolts for a second-hand sofa, armchair, wingback chair and ottoman. These were all lovingly restored by local Steve Norman. The fabrics chosen included a multi-coloured flame stitch, a strié floral design in a Kiwi tonal palette, and a plain repp mixed with a bombazine stripe both in a sage.
Choosing Finishing Colours and Textures
The colour scheme was carefully selected to align with our brand identity. We opted for a palette that blends neutral tones with bold accents, creating a harmonious yet dynamic environment. More tonal combinations were chosen for the furniture, and we chose to add pops of colour through the furnishings within the scheme. This led to the challenging task of recovering a lampshade for the first time and adding another accent to the room. This features a cream ground with a bright burgundy coral pattern figure.
Plotting the New Layout & Decorating the Room
Now lots of elements of the scheme were starting to materialise, the team had the pleasure of setting the scene. We had originally planned for a lounge-style seating area, and this has evolved to become a comfortable meeting area where guests can enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival. Here we will discuss the specific project requirements and can show how our fabrics can be incorporated into a bespoke interior. The room has been finished with antiques, additional furniture and plants.
Our showroom redecoration was a labour of love, and the result is a space that beautifully showcases our products while creating an inviting and inspiring environment. We will be sharing images of the finished showroom over the coming months, and we invite you to visit and experience the transformation for yourself. We hope it will inspire you as much as it has inspired us!
