Festive opening 2022/23 – Our last working day is Friday 23rd December 2022 and we return on Tuesday 3rd January 2023.
2022 was always due to be an exciting year for Humphries Weaving as March marked the start of our 50th year in business.
We celebrated by welcoming customers and partners; old and new to a special event at Spencer House. It was a fantastic chance to catch up in person and share many of the special projects we have completed over the past 5 decades, as well as showcasing exciting new developments. It was extra special to do this in one of the most magnificent rooms we have helped to restore over the years, as seen with our red damask below.
You may have caught Natalie & Alex on the TV chatting to Nick Knowles; as we participated in a programme for Discovery Quest documenting the restoration of Boston Manor House. For this exciting project we supplied custom blue damask, as well as several other fabrics throughout the Manor. English Heritage recently announced that the house has been removed from its at risk register and they look forward to welcoming visitors back in Spring next year.
We completed many beautiful projects this year but it is particularly special to complete something local. Gainsborough House and Gallery re-opened to the public in November where we supplied pure silk damask for the Gallery walling. Not only does this donation show off the skills still in practise in Sudbury today, but it is also serves as a unique opportunity for the staff of both Humphries Weaving and Sudbury Silk Mills to see the results up close in their hometown and share their craft skills with friends and family.
From the whole team at Humphries Weaving we wish you a wonderful festive break and happy new year. We look forward to working together in 2023 and beyond.
