A celebration of silk weaving in Sudbury, Suffolk.
The Silk Festival will showcase the rich history of silk weaving in Sudbury with a day-long programme of exhibitions, talks, silk walks, a silk architectural heritage walk and workshops on Saturday 7 September 2019.
Discover the long tradition of silk weaving in the town that stretches back to the 1780’s. Records show that by 1844 there were four silk manufacturers and 600 silk looms and it is still a thriving industry today with four working silk mills including Humphries Weaving.
Humphries Weaving will be exhibiting alongside the other silk mills, crafts and demonstrations inside St Peters Church, there will also be a series of talks held in the Sudbury Assembly Rooms which are available to book online now. Click here for more information on talks & booking.
